Sale of Alcohol:

The Law states it is illegal -

  • To sell alcohol to someone under 18 anywhere.
  • For an adult to buy or attempt to buy alcohol on behalf of someone under 18
  • For someone under 18 to buy alcohol, attempt to buy alcohol or to be sold alcohol

We reserve the right to refuse the sale of alcohol to an adult if we believe the intention is to give it to a child

Understanding alcohol units:

For many a misconception is that 1 drink classes as 1 unit. The volume of liquid and the ABV (alcohol by volume) influence the amount of units within each drink.

Alcohol Guidelines:

Recently revised guidelines state that men and women should not consume more than 14 units of alcohol within a week. It advises that people should not drink excessively and have some days that are alcohol free. In a change to previous guidelines pregnant women should not drink any alcohol at all.

Drinking and driving:

The law of England and Wales states, the alcohol limit for drivers is 80 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath or 107milligrammes per 100 millilitres of urine.

The law of Scotland states, the alcohol limit for drivers in Scotland reduced from 80 milligrams of alcohol in every 100 millilitres of blood to 50 milligrams of alcohol in every 100 millilitres of blood. The new reduced levels for Scotland came into effect on December 5th 2014.

There are numerous factors that influence how your body deals with alcohol and each person may be able to consume differing amounts of alcohol before passing the legal limits. Our advice is, if you are driving the safest measure is no alcohol.
