Throwing a Christmas party? Getting together with family and friends? Or simply want a warming drink on a chilly evening? Here are some our favourite festive cocktails to add extra sparkle and festive cheer.
The lighter-coloured sibling to a Black Russian, and an easy to mix cocktail.
- 50ml Smirnoff vodka (for Russian authenticity)
- 25ml Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur
- 50ml cream
- Chocolate shavings
Pour the vodka, and Baileys into a cocktail shaker and shake until the surface of the shaker feels chilled. Fill an Old Fashioned glass with ice and pour the mix in. Pour the cream into the glass, and sprinkle the chocolate shavings on top.
Hot Buttery Rum
A hot drink for guests to take out into the garden, or to enjoy after a winter’s stroll.
- 50ml Captain Morgan Dark Rum
- 15g unsalted butter chopped into squares
- 50ml hot water
- 1tsp honey
- 1 x cinnamon stick
Add 1tsp of honey in a heat-proof glass. Mix in the butter, rum and hot water and stir until blended. Grate nutmeg over the top and garnish with the cinnamon stick.
The perfect party mixer for festive drinkers
- 30ml Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
- 30ml Sherry
- 100ml Sparkling water
- 15ml Lemon juice
- 1tbsp Honey
- 1 Slice of orange
- 5 Cloves
Add ice to a cocktail shaker and pour in the spiced rum, honey, lemon, and sherry. Shake vigorously and strain into a tumbler. Garnish by adding an orange studded with the 5 cloves.
An American festive classic. This version needs a little preparation, but gives you enough eggnog for 10 people.
- 1ltr Milk
- 475ml Jim Beam bourbon
- 475ml Double cream
- 12 Egg yolks
- 12 Egg whites
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 200g Caster sugar
Blend the milk, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and bourbon in a large bowl, using a hand mixer, until creamy. In another bowl, whip the egg whites until soft peaks form, then gradually sprinkle in the sugar whilst continuing to whip until the mixture turns stiff. Fold the egg whites into the mixture and pour everything into a large punch bowl.
Use the nutmeg for garnish when served into smaller glasses, or cups.
Chocolate Orange Espresso Martini
It’s not Christmas without a chocolate orange or two.
- 100g Dark chocolate orange
- 1tbsp Double cream
- 35ml shot Espresso
- 50ml Absolute Vanilla Vodka
Melt the chocolate (carefully) in either a microwave or in a bowl above a pan. Once melted stir in the cream, the Espresso shot, and vanilla vodka. Chill the mix in the fridge for 30 minutes, before pouring into a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake, then strain into a martini glass.
